This webinar, which was simultaneously interpreted into French and Spanish, brought together more than 300 participants representing all global regions and relevant stakeholder groups to explore the interpretation of key terms in CBD COP Decision 16/2 establishing the Multilateral Mechanism (MLM) on Digital Sequence Information (DSI) and the Cali Fund. Recognising that implementation depends, in part, on a common understanding of key terminology, the webinar examined four concepts central to the operationalisation of the Decision: publicly available, entities, indicative rates, and direct and indirect use. The objective was not to provide definitive legal interpretations, but to identify areas of convergence, clarify differing perspectives, and explore their practical implications for implementation.
